Basic Life Support - Online Class

$50

with Stephen Shaner, Wood County Hospital - CPR & Advanced Life Support

Calendar May 1, 2026 at 12 pm

This online course will allow to complete the course at your own pace. Once the course is completed you will email Steve Shaner @ shaners@woodcountyhospital.org to set up a time to come into the hospital to complete the skills portion of the course. Once that has been completed you will receive your BLS card.

The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS (Basic Life Support) Online Course is designed to teach healthcare providers and professionals the essential skills to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. The course covers the following key areas:

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for adults, children, and infants.

Use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for adult, child, and infant victims.

Relief of Choking in conscious and unconscious patients.

Basic First Aid techniques for medical emergencies.

Team Dynamics and High-Performance CPR to enhance response in emergency situations.

Recognition and management of respiratory and cardiac emergencies, including basic airway management.

Self-Paced Online Format: Learn at your own pace, with modules that allow you to stop and resume at any time.

Video Demonstrations: Interactive video simulations showing how to perform BLS skills in real-life situations.

Quizzes and Assessments: Periodic assessments to ensure you understand the concepts.

Certification: After completing the course and passing the final exam, you'll receive an American Heart Association BLS certification, valid for two years.

Healthcare professionals (e.g., doctors, nurses, EMTs, and paramedics).

Non-healthcare professionals (e.g., teachers, coaches, lifeguards, or anyone who wants to be prepared for emergency situations).

Internet access to complete the online modules and final exam.

Ability to demonstrate hands-on skills in a practical setting (some courses may require in-person skills sessions, or an option for a skills check-off with a certified instructor).

The course is typically designed for those who need to maintain their certification for work purposes, or anyone wanting to learn life-saving skills. The online course offers flexibility and convenience, allowing participants to complete their certification at their own pace.

Heartsaver CPR/AED - Online

$45

Calendar May 1, 2026 at 12 pm, runs for 6 weeks

This online course instructs students on CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in adults, infants, and children. 

Once you have registered for this online class, you will recieve an email with the online course that is at your own pace. Once you have completed the online portion, you will need to reach out to Steve Shaner @ shaners@woodcountyhospital.org to set up a date and time to do your hands on skills at the hospital.

This class may not be accepted for the renewal of healthcare certifications as it is intended for non-medical professionals. Please check with your certification/ licensing agency or your institutional policy.

This online course is intended for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. Occupations include, but not limited to: day care providers, teachers, bus drivers, and coaches. 

Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED - Online

$75

Calendar May 1, 2026 at 12 pm, runs for 4 weeks

This online course instructs students on CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in adults, infants, and children. Students will also review basic first-aid care for emergencies including seizures, environmental issues, stroke, and how to help stop bleeding. 

This class may not be accepted for the renewal of healthcare certifications as it is intended for non-medical professionals. Please check with your certification/ licensing agency or your institutional policy.

This online course is intended for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. Occupations include, but not limited to: day care providers, teachers, bus drivers, and coaches. 

 Once your online portion is completed, please reach out to Steve Shaner @ shaners@woodcountyhospital.org to set up a time to complete your in-person skills check off.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

A great way to begin your breastfeeding journey. Learn important basics to help you get a good start with building a great milk supply and a good latch from the moment your infant is placed on your chest. Class also provides you the opportunity to get all your breastfeeding questions answered by our Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. ONLY 1 REGISTRATION NEEDED PER COUPLE!

PALS- Heartcode (Blended Learning)- June 18, 2026

with Wood County Hospital - CPR & Advanced Life Support

HeartCode PALS has two main components- an on-line portion, and an in-person ands-on skills session.

Please sign up for this class no later than 2 weeks prior. It may take up to 1 week to receive the link to the online portion you need to complete and then you must complete the on-line portion prior to attending the skills session. 

The on-line course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probes, and Cognitive Assessment Activities. The student has a choice of completing a pre-hospital or in-hospital contextualized track.

After on-line course completion you MUST print a copy of your certificate and bring it to the skill session to recieve your card. NO EXCEPTIONS.

The skill session is the date this class is listed as- you must attend the entire skill session to receive your ACLS certification.

Safe Sitter Class

$70

Designed to prepare students to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. 

The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue! 

Cost is $70 for community members. Please register online. Payment is due at time of registration and payment by credit card only.
